Lacey is a
wonderful place to live. A community that has:
Economic
Growth: Up to 5 million
people are expected to visit the developing retail sector at
Hawks Prairie during the next few years. This Gateway
Project is a major economic boon for our area and changes
the face of tourism in Lacey. Economic growth is good
for Lacey.
Outstanding
parks and recreational events:
Whether it’s Farmer’s Market, Concerts in the Park, kids’
fishing derbies, car shows, sports, or holiday bazaars -
Lacey has it all. My son enjoyed his first baseball game at
the new Rainier Vista Park recently. My daughter was
introduced to ballet through Lacey Parks. I enjoy lap
swimming at our local pools.
Security:
Our police department is held in high regard.
Did you know that our senior patrol will keep an eye on your
house when you’re away on vacation? That resource officers
are directly involved with our schools, in ways that impact
our youth?

My wife and I
are raising our three children in Lacey and therefore
I have a strong personal interest in its future. With ten
years of local business experience, I can testify that Lacey
is a wonderful and vibrant community. We are enjoying
business economic growth, fantastic parks, and a commendable
level of safety and security. However, there is more
to do.
I'll work to
improve traffic flow and safely. College Street needs help. Traffic
congestion needs to be reduced in several places. A
freeway interchange on Carpenter Road would help.
I'll
work for more water and better water conservation. Environmentally, we must effectively manage growth and
mitigate the loss of trees. I will continue the work
of connecting urban trails so that we can enjoy the full
scope of our local trail system.
I
fully support the
Department of Natural Resources qualifications for being a
Tree City, USA. This means maintaining these four standards:
- A legally
constituted “tree board” or department to assure
year-to-year continuity in carrying out a work plan of
care for community trees.
- A tree
ordinance designating the tree board or department as
responsible for carrying out an annual community
forestry work plan.
- A community
forestry program with an annual budget of at least $2
per capita.
- An Arbor Day
observance to celebrate the planting and appreciation of
trees.
I will
use my ten years of local business experience to help
further the progress of Lacey in many ways and for the
people of Lacey.
To sum it up,
I have a vested interest in Lacey because my family lives
here and my children will grow up here. My desire is to see
Lacey flourish as a healthy, economically sound and
beautiful community. One that adequately meets the needs of
not only my family, but of all those who live and work here.
